Ideals

Ideals

A Story by Alex Fyresol
"

Ideology, the basis of mankind where everybody expects something from everything. That's not me.

"
People regard me as less than ideal just because I don't reach their standards of perfection. People request that I change everything about who I am just to add to their illusion of flawlessness.
I can't do what is impossible. I can't reach anybody else's ideals for I have none of my own.

Why should I expect anything from anybody who has given me nothing but pain?

I'm used. I'm tossed away. I'm garbage.

Fine then. That's what I will be. I'll bring you down with me.

Ideals.

Why do they exist? Why do people expect so much from everything? We are only human. We can only attain a certain level, seeing as our capabilities are extremely limited.

I have already touched base with this fact, and have accepted it. Yes, I am not perfect. Only One is to me. Yes, I am not pretty. Yes, I am not great with social skills. Yes, I was raised differently than you. (Gasp! How could it be?)

No, I will not wear makeup to mask my face. No, I will not attend parties and drink champagne like you do. No, I am not like you. I won't change for you.

You expect greatness from me, but I can only give you my best. You expect me to play by the rules, but rules are just suggestions to me. Why do I have to follow them if they were made by you? You do not control me. You do not own me.

I am myself, and that's all I ever will be.

Accept me, or leave me. It's your choice.

So long as your ideals for me are equal to mine, then we will get along just fine.
