Unnoticed bud

Unnoticed bud

A Poem by AlexValkyrie

Upon a grassy hill stood a mighty tree,
Where squirrels gathered winter food,
and little flocks of birds sang free.

The tree had but a single flower,
Small and weak yet still loved,
The tree cared with all its power.

The flower loved its tree too,
and for a time they were happy,
Until a second flower the tree grew.

This flower blocked the sun out,
and the first flower was saddened,
but never would complain or shout.

"Surely I am still loved" it thought,
and so the tree would claim.
But the tree favored the budding tot.

In time for its sibling the flower learned hate,
and jealousy trampled its soul and life,
But the trees love for the first became second rate.

"If only I could find a new tree to love",
the first flower whispered sadly,
Was forever doomed to see its sibling above.

This piece makes me feel the first flowers sorrows and defiantly captures the pain one may feel.

This is so relatable. I love it. I like the way you structured the stanzas, too
