A Haiku for Aubrey

A Haiku for Aubrey

A Poem by AlexValkyrie
"

Our relationship ended badly. Both of us were to blame. Yes I know a haiku is only three lines. Chill.

"

I blamed you always

But fault was equally mine

Why can't we forgive

You made a promise

I demand that you keep it

We were both so wrong

Communication

It failed so miserably

Then I ran away

I cut you right off

Then tried to run back to you

But your heart was stone

Now I lack the proof

That you ever existed

Because I let go

I love you no more

Only miss the joy and hope

I wish you the best

People come into our lives and go for a reason. I guess there is a life lesson to be learned in each relationship as it is built and as it flounders. And though it hurts, perhaps, our souls are being prepared for something more and it is our choice to make it an avenue for growth or a pit of desolation.

A series of Haikus can be called Renga or Renku - so you are good to go :)
I think the brevity and the calculative number of syllables makes this poem more effective in expressing the bitter feelings we all mull over after a breakup.
