LoveA Story by AlexA philosophical view at Love, and it's interweaving uses and purposes in humans and their thought process. I got a lot of bad rap for this at one point, because I doubted "love's" use beyond a goal oriented perspective.Love by definition is an intense feeling of tender affection or compassion, a passionate feeling of romantic desire and sexual attraction, a romantic affair (possibly sexual), a strong liking for or pleasure gained from someone, etc. But why do we feel these emotions, and why do we need them? What really is the purpose of love? Is love a human creation to feel included or is it an instinctual emotion that drives us towards a purpose.
In the inverse, hate is a feeling of intense dislike of a person. In order for love exist, so does hate, as for anything to exist an opposite must exist to compare it to. (quote matt) Hate towards a person creates a need to love someone. Hate can be a decision factor for the rest of one’s life. If love does not go a certain way for a person, their entire lives may be affected by that one past experience. In the opposite of that a feeling of love during a relationship may attract someone to something new that was before inexperienced.
The love we feel can be many things. It can be described as an emotion. But the purpose of this emotion boggles us. Is love really an emotion conjured up by the brain? What is love? Is it an abstract concept? Is it a state of being? Love could also be a need for inclusion. Love just may be larger than the self and can be indescribable. Love could also be a thirst for knowledge. The opposite sex is off limits due to our culture in the current time. Maybe our love is a search for knowledge of the opposite sex. Or maybe it is a powerful rebellious force that drives us against the media and what our parents told us. Love could also be the quest for security and order for oneself. In a sense love is a society in and of itself. The emotion we call love can also be a way for us to expose ourselves to the outside world, instead of being sheltered to the lifestyle you are forced to live. The god Chasm was a void of nothingness, and from him, came Eros the god of attraction and Gaia, the god of Earth. So from nothingness, came love, love is an emotion that can spring from nowhere.
In our society, love is the unity of people. Marriage, and courtships are ways of intertwining ones life to another. Thereby adapting their culture, habits, idiosyncrasies and lifestyles. Love can change someone entirely to something they never thought they would become. Love has many ups, but everything has its downs. Love can cause feuds, fights, and death as people fight over the love and affection of the same object. It is survival of the fittest in the relationship world, pounce quickly, but choose wisely. There is constantly a battle between people for the love of other people. Celebrities try desperately to gain attention, sometimes going completely ballistic. But still they cheers and cries of the people fuel them on to continue their destructive and ultimately crash-and-burn careers if they were to carry on the way they were.
I believe love is an emotion carried in the brain, latent until needed, but instinctual nonetheless. The purpose of it is to create a sense of inclusion in society, and to protect oneself with the mental and physical security of another. Love creates a natural order, and keeps people of similar values together in this way love creates groups and societies. In the inverse, hate keeps people of different values apart and prevents the formation of groups that would have led to the destruction of the members of the group or society. © 2008 AlexAuthor's Note
