Luna

Ever wonder why we shine? Or do we ever?

He fell in love with Luna 

One night under a starless sky

Calling: Luna! Luna!

Why do you not answer me?

As Luna waxed and waned

by her side he stayed

Calling: Luna! Luna!

Are you okay?

And when Luna came down that fateful night

He stayed there, by her side

Whispering: Luna, Luna

Will you leave me?

When she opened her mouth, out came a sound

And he fell down

Crying: Luna! Luna!

Did you ever see me?

He raged at the sun

for days on end

Screaming: Luna! Luna!

Why did you take her from me?

He cursed at the sun, telling him not to shine

But when he did, Luna he could still not find

Saying: Luna, Luna

Whence did you go?

He felt the warm touch of the sun on his back

Telling him why she would not come back

Crying: Luna! Luna! 

Why can we not be?

And he went to wander

Great Unknowns

Searching through the pitch black sky

Always Searching

for one thing

Crying: Luna! Luna!

I will shine on my own.

Not that it's what you were going for, but it reminds me of a dream I had when I was little and the sun would shine through everything, so bright, through walls, doors, anything. I was praying for the moon and wishing the sun would go away. Besides the memory it reminded me of, it was a really good poem, original and creative. Thanks for sharing!
