AnxietyA Poem by AlexAs these blurry patterns spill from my lips They haul with them the wind from my lungs Remorselessly I cannot breathe but consciousness holds on My heart feels heavy It’s pulse accelerating It pounds through the surface of my chest Like a fist against water Shrewdness quickly flees and leaves behind only a hollow numbness Thought now too incapable of occupying the great emptiness of my mind The air thickens and tightens an itchy blanket over my trembling body As a gasp of air eventually stutters it's way through me It drops to the pit of my stomach Sending a shiver throughout my broken figure And feeling slowly fades away Dawn floods my soul with torment Anguish takes my hand But it will not sell me certainty with my morning's song
