Troubled Sleep

Troubled Sleep

A Poem by Alex Norman
"

Awake late at night, stuggling to sleep made me think about writing a poem. So I picked up some paper, scribbled some ideas then wrote it the next day. Enjoy!

"

Eyes start to shut,

Though their actions deceive.

You're itching with impatience.

What is on your mind,

That keeps you so starkly awake?

Or what condition in the world around you

Keeps you from entering peaceful slumber?

Eyes start to shut,

Though their actions deceive.

You're itching with impatience.

A flash of light from far away,

A crash of thunder in distant lands.

Is this what makes your body stay

Awake, trembling your shivering hands?

Eyes start to shut,

Though their actions deceive.

You're itching with impatience.

The dark continues to grip,

As you tediously wait in bed.

What will the future bring tommorow?

In the distant future.

Eyes start to shut,

Though your actions deceive.

You're itching with impatience.

Then the gap in your curtain

Discovers a wanted treasure.

Streams of light meander through it,

Its spines piercing the darkness.

At first olive gloom then cyan blooms.

Morning has come.

I like this, it describes a sleepless night perfectly. Night seems like the time when everything is easily crashed down on you, keeping you awake.

Great Job
