Sunlight

Sunlight

A Poem by Alex Norman
"

This is a short poem about a plant. I hope you enjoy, and please comment constructively.

"

Slowly, the plant lifts its leafy hands

Towards the sun. Inch by inch,

The shoots reaching up to grasp

For more light. It can't keep up

As the sun picks up pace. Now it's setting.

Once again, nighttime cold bites hard,

A clamp of cold air forcing the buds

Shut. Sealed. Lying in wait.

Sometime soon the sun will return to

Bathe the leaves with its rays of warmth.

And there it is, the sun crawling out of the

Underworld and onto the horizon.

At last! Light! Soaked in dew, the

Buds open once again. At the plant's crown,

Six small purple petals uncoil,

Ready for a new day.

it reminds me of how people could live and just wait and have faith in the next day the sun being so certain and true that we're willing to endure dark times just to try again at sunrise and cry again at sunset

It's hopeful, and brings it's point from the beginning to the end, by making contrast with the middle. I like it; nice work.
