strawberry soda

strawberry soda

A Poem by Alex S. Moore

i don't want to write your name down
on anymore pieces of paper,
in anymore notebooks.

it's funny in the way where you have to make it funny
so it hurts a little less
when you're avoiding eye contact.

she probably forgot me
like a thought that wasn't written down in time.
and that's funny.

it's funny when things don't work out.
it's funny that we keep thoughts to ourselves.
it's funny that everyone laughs for a last time.

hold a straight face when you say that i can tell you anything
and have fun on those nights where i'm wondering
how many pills i need to take before my brain stops mentioning you.

please laugh because i kill myself every time i see you.
you're the reason why i have to leave.
you're the reason i haven't run away yet.

i can't even say when it ended, only that we spoke to each other
in a certain way that'll never happen again.
and i almost laughed when i told you i hate myself and you asked me why
