Crane Thoughts

Crane Thoughts

A Poem by Alex S. Moore

it’s that frozen blue

that’s almost gray

making me wonder what

it’d be like to feel

cold forever.

concrete waterfalls play

the tune of everyone

i’ve ever cared about

being somewhere else.

i’ve just always felt like

i’m not 70% water,

or almost entirely carbon,

or 70% of something,

or almost entirely anything.

That blue is my favorite color. It's such a soothing hue.

The middle stanza is profound in it's simplicity. There's something just universal about that kind of bitterness and longing.

The last stanza is a bit confusing. I had to re-read it a few times to get the point you were going for. The first two lines were well-written, but the last two were the part that caught me. While figuring in the carbon and the water, never forget somewhere the soul fits in.
