UntitledA Poem by Alex EppsFirst poem I ever wrote, many years ago. Introspection about finding your worth, being real and never superficial.
I want to know what you know about soul
Not what you know about rhythm and blues But what you have on the inside of your shoe What’s on the outside doesn’t really count Until you have something of worth deep in your heart So let me into your mind, let me see Let me see what’s happening, interior Never leave the place that makes you tick Off the clock, ticking inside, never inferior Always superior, listen, learn, live love Making a haven inside your head, above your shoulders Never doubting keep on shouting Shifting around the building blocks Moving those boulders Living, listening, learning and loving Never shrugging like nothing matters Because everything and everyone chatters Moving through time on their own accord Shifting the sands, holding hands Making time for each other and yourself Always open, always closed but never superimposed © 2024 Alex EppsAuthor's Note
