A Little Boys’ Dream

A Little Boys’ Dream

A Poem by Carol

I can feel the wind blowing against my body.

Trying to hold me back.

My hair is everywhere with the wind, smacking me in the face.

My open jacket blowing loudly behind me like a cape.

I can hear the sounds of waves smashing against the rocks beneath the bridge.

Looking over the railing of the bridge,

I can see the reflection of the storm clouds in the wild waves.

I step over the railing,

my tight grip the only thing keeping me from falling.

Looking up,

seeing the faint colors of the setting sun

far behind the angry clouds,

I sigh and close my eyes.

“This is it.” I say to myself,

trying to calm the rapid pace of my heart

I take a deep breath

and slowly,

I let go.
