In understanding loss I have found worth In the people who have cut across The walls I have placed in the earth Friends fiddle with time Hundreds of moments crammed into hours Leaving impressions that can last a lifetime Knowing nothing this powerful is ever ours Relationships slip through my fingers like my hands hold the waters of life The need for it lingers Yet I always place others before my strife For I felt the warmth of the sun pull me from the dark I have heard the certainty that the rain will end I have seen how history has left it's mark And I know that people can change more than they comprehend For life is a gift Reminding me how our time is swift
