Papa's Proverbs

Papa's Proverbs

A Poem by Alessander
"

A sorta father's day poem.

"
Square off all your debts
Don't fall for no w***e
And never make a decision drunk

Leverage is all
Cut off the angles
And never make a decision drunk

Be on time
Say thanks and sorry
And never make a decision drunk

Measure twice - cut once
Always clean your tools and guns
And never make a decision drunk

Turn into the skid
Gather sufficient kindle
And never make a decision drunk

Use the right bait
Hit a wall not a woman
And never make a decision drunk

Work hard, play hard
Don't f**k up your feet or back
And never make a decision drunk

Stand up and fight
Lay down and love
And never make a decision drunk

This contains much sound wisdom with the repeating mantra emphasizing and driving home the importance of sober decision making. The worst decision I think many make is getting behind the wheel, knowing well they can barely stumble along in their inebriated condition. It's good to remember words from our parents and the important lessons they impart. I 'm reminded of a line from a Don Williams song, "Good Old Boys Like Me" "Then daddy came in to kiss his little man, with gin on his breath and a Bible in his hand, and he talked about honor and things I should know, and he staggered a little as he went out the door." I enjoyed the read, my friend.

You are welcome Poet. ~ Helena ~
This is great! Such humour and sincerity. Reminds me of Bukowski in some subtle ways. Well done!

Sounds about right and probably speaking from experience when emphasizing the drunk part.
