Digiverse

A Poem by Alessander
"

Tech-themed: "It is this divine side of man, his inward action, which means everything, not a mass of information" - Kierkegaard.

"
Encyclopedic mainframes /Lap-top heads
Power-boxes for multitudinous outlets, plugs, chargers
Conduits manipulating/Fiber-optic arteries /Artificial energy
ZAP/Pale lights/Computers aglow in dark
cloistered bedrooms/Powered pacemakers stalling at microwaves/Electrocuted blood - cookied fantasies
Ads proclaiming everything free!
Pharmaceutical elixirs for limpness, lumpiness, loneliness
Snake-oil for suffering/Nigerian kings, Syrian refugees
Pornography, clever memes, whimsical gifs, shocking news, witty banter/Socio-politic-religous-diatribes
Spewing on every thread

Existential vomit.
/Aroma-less cuisines
Vacuumed vacations/Youtubed communions/Suicide selfies.

 Crucifixdrones - pedolandia
Jdate.POF.AshleyMadison.Match. Eharmony.SpeedDate.OKcupid
CG. Missed encounters...
Serial killers, /Pixalated p*****s, vein-throbbed dick shots, cardboard gloryholes

Instagramed I/Inviolate I/Internet I

I    I     I

No sweaty arm pits, cottage cheese, gray nose hairs or belly fat
Computer [ScreenShot]
While behind, posters hang: The Doors, Tupac, NIN, The Smiths, Hendrix, Joy Division, Nirvana

HandshapedHeart.//2D souls/Text-dating
144 word manifestos /#revolutions/Archetype emoticons

Doodled centaurs /Caged in matrices

Transcendental notes/Need a hit/Of internet smack

A line, a pinch, a drag/A like, a comment, a kudos
A reply, a thumbs up, a share, a poke/One measly view
Baby, come on, give me a fix/Just one
Notification: ding-beep-buzzzz
I want to dissolve like alka-seltzer in tap water
Otherwise I'm a used-up toothpaste tube
Sitting in a dank medicine cabinet

If not, I am/A stick-figure created from matches
Drowning in a drum of gasoline

Not buried beneath pregnant soil
No. dumped into blue recycling bins.

This is a pretty raw version, but as always, whatever comes to mind.

The title is very fitting. The flow fit with the halting choppiness of the menu of technological refuse.

The last line was perfect!

For me, it was a bit long. But I suppose that mirrors the manner in which the internet survives in its endless array.

It's the "Metaverse" now. Just so much more wasted technology on the road to cyborg replacement of the species. They talk about, "New World Order" I'll have a cheeseburger and fries. Fun read. Cheers! F.

behind that screen we can be anything we want to be....technical selves versus real selves, the flesh and blood kind.
mine got electrocuted....somewhere within that machine...

I became the stick figure drowning in gasoline, lighting a match my Dell...

and then ran away to untamed land to find a real Dell....
the nature kind.

great write, Alessander, and what will we all do when the sun decides to take it all away and we must face each other flesh to flesh...with nothing more than our whit.

Extremely dynamic metaphors happening in the beginning of the piece,
it sort of acts like some staccato rhythm. It then veers off into a more relaxed
cadence. However, that "I I I" thing in the middle seems to take away from its
natural rhythm..structurally its interesting. The theme of this piece sounds out
from an insightful perspective, just the way it should be.

This is a pretty raw version indeed. And it really makes the poem.
Avant garde.

But what have you been looking at on the web, really?

My friend you have a true poetic voice and I do admire how you cut straight through the bullshit .
Never water down a write much like whiskey cheers amigo.

I like the whole piece - modernity clash...thrill and buzz...highs and lows...raw and real - as always x

This is quirky albeit a sign of times, price we pay for progress, modern technology now rules our lives. Imagine what it'll be like 20-50 years from now. I can't pick a favorite line, they're all so unique and intriguing. I must admit I haven't seen a youtube communion yet though....muchly enjoyed!

I actually didn't think so, I guess that makes me incoherent too, shocker haha...my pleasure. ;-)
This reads as very stream of consciousness, which in this case makes sense, since it sort of mirrors the endless stream of information and images from the internet. bear in mind, though, just like the internet, it can be dizzying and hard to follow in places.
I would omit or modify "whimsical gifs" from line 16, it breaks up the flow, and in my humble opinion the word whimsical has no place in this poem
