The Lord's Declaration

The Lord's Declaration

A Story by "Aleeza"

As you read throughout the Word of God, you will see many declarations made by Him. Many promises made to His children, His followers. Today I want to focus on 2nd Chronicles 7:14 that says:  If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. So, let’s dissect the details of this passage. If My People- Those who have accepted Christ. Not the people of the world, but the people of God, His church that has been called by His name. His righteous servants, will humble themselves- to come before Him with a heart of submission and gratitude. And Pray- To call out to Him, to talk to Him. To seek His face- To be in His presence… And turn from your wicked ways- To repent and seek forgiveness. Then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. He will hear our cries and bring forth deliverance.

When studying this scripture, I understand that this was a promise, a declaration made to Israel, but as a believer in Christ I believe that much can be healed through repentance and prayer. Does that mean that God will heal this whole country? No, but He could if He chose to. Although, I do believe He will heal the broken hearted and set the captives free. That according to Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free. I believe if more Christians will stop pacifying the sinful nature and actions of others and speak God’s word over them, then much would look different in this world. I’m in no way saying that with a judgmental heart, but a heart that hurts for others and desires to see people set free.

We as a nation of Christians have time and time again remained silent as sin and corruption runs rampant in this nation. We have become more accepting, afraid to speak the truth because the truth might offend someone. I believe it is our obligation to speak God’s truth. To always be spoken in love, but the truth must not be hidden to protect the feelings of others. I believe that revelation of the truth is the perfect example of His love. The point is: That God promises His people who repent, seek His face and pray that He will bring forth healing. There are so many area’s in our lives (including mine) that have not been sought diligently by us. There are people hurting and dying either physically and spiritually that we have not cried out for. I’m not talking about a 5-minute prayer. I’m talking about seeking God day and night through fasting and prayer.

We have allowed technology, television, sports, kids activities, etc. to overtake our lives and remove us from what matters most. Done get me wrong, it’s okay to have all those things, but when those things are all you have than God is not the center anymore. Trust me, I know all too well how to place Him on the back burner to make sure that I or my family have time for those other things. My spiritual growth has suffered because I needed to be more successful as a mother, a wife, or a friend. Not realizing that the best way to be all those things is to make sure that Christ is at the center of all those things. If we as believers are the only visual of Christ that unbelievers see, then are we showing them what He truly looks like? So, as I study one of many of the Lord’s declarations, I asked myself, am I humbling myself? Am I praying and seeking His face enough to make a difference in who He is in my life and the life of others. I pray that you ask yourselves that same question. If your answer is no, then I encourage you as believers to repent and seek the face of the One who saved you from the snares of the enemy, the same way He desires to do for the unsaved. Be a light in the darkness, pray healing for the broken and hurting. Sing His praises and change the atmosphere around you, and always be thankful. Even if you don’t see the finish line, just remember, He’s not done with you yet. If you are still here, then your story is not finished. So, I say make your story count for the Glory of God and those who seek Him.
