IncomparableA Story by "Aleeza"Incomparable:
unable to be compared; totally different in nature or extent. I am incomparable
to you and vise-versa, but comparing myself to others has been a lifelong sinful
pride that I have allowed to hinder a lot of what God has called me to do. The
things He has placed within me have not always been put into action because of
my own prideful insecurities. Comparison within the body of Christ is a very
detrimental thing to our spiritual growth. I for one love writing, whether it
be in a Blog or journaling or writing a story. To be honest, I'm not even that
great at it as far as being able to articulate what I want to say in a creative
way. I’m the type that writes the same way I speak. I'm not great at memorizing
Scripture, it takes work. I don't know a lot of big words or their meanings
without looking them up, but what I do know, is that I love to pour out
whatever it is that the Holy Spirit is placing within me. I love that when I
share it becomes a blessing to others. I am in no way belittling what I do, but
I am saying is that even if your gifts do not operate as someone’s else does, that
doesn’t mean that yours isn’t just as effective. We may have the exact same
gift and yet they look completely different, because God is using us to reach
different people with different likes and personalities. We, more so as women tend to compare how we look to one another, whether we could sing as well as the next person, whether we have the ability to teach as someone else would. For me, I've never wanted to do anything artistically because I didn't grow up learning how to do it. So, out of the fear of not having a creative bone in my body, I was afraid it would look dumb, so I would make fun of others doing it. Now, I try to attempt different things and some are horrible and funny looking, but some look pretty good. So, instead of envying others for what I can't do, I attempt it at least once. God created life to be enjoyed, not to be so demanding and critical of one another or ourselves. Even if we all were to share the same gifting’s, they would all be operated in different capacities. Reaching a completely different audience of people. I hope you know that you are un-comparable in the sight of God. The words say’s in Hebrews 10:10 We have been set apart as holy because Jesus Christ did what God wanted him to do by sacrificing his body once and for all. To be set apart means that God has His hand on you for a specific purpose. He'll use other people to get you on track, or He’ll use you to pull someone else in. Let's think about it, if we spent less time comparing ourselves to others and concentrated more on what God is trying to do within us, then we would walk in much more confidence of ourselves than what we have. Truth be told, when we compare ourselves to others it is because we are envious or jealous of what they have, and that my friend is sin. Galatians 5:25-26 in the Message bible explains it like this: Since this is the kind of life we have chosen, the life of the Spirit, let us make sure that we do not just hold it as an idea in our heads or a sentiment in our hearts, but work out its implications in every detail of our lives. That means we will not compare ourselves with each other as if one of us were better and another worse. We have far more interesting things to do with our lives. Each of us is an original. So, I think it's time we start trusting in God’s ability to do what He has set out to do in us and begin to believe in ourselves. No more looking to the right or to the left, know Who you are in Christ and walk in it. I think we'll all be surprised with what He reveals in us and who He touches through us. We are incomparable because we serve an Incomparable God. *Aleeza* © 2018 "Aleeza" |
