What is your LifeLine?

What is your LifeLine?

A Story by "Aleeza"

Just recently one of my very best friends had a surgical procedure done. The procedure went well, but she was not getting enough nutrients afterwards. They tried for a few days before considering placing in a Picc line. A Picc line is a catheter that is inserted into a large vein that carries blood into the heart. The Picc line is used for long-term intravenous antibiotics, nutrition or medications, and for blood draws. Of course, hers would have been for nutritional purposes. We would have given God the Glory either way, but how grateful are we that the Doctors decided to wait it out and see if her fluid intake would happen naturally, and it did. She is now home and on the road to a healthier lifestyle and the only Picc line she relied on was the promises of her Heavenly Father.

So many times, in the medical field doctors must use many different tools as life saving measures. In this case, it would have been a Picc line. In another case, it could have been CPR, or maybe a defibrillator. There are many ways to save a person’s life. Which led me to thinking. How many times have we experienced a near death experience, or we or someone we loved has been diagnosed with a possibly fatal illness, or maybe you almost lost a family member during an emergency? It is always in that moment that God becomes our Picc line, our Life line. Our life saving measure instantly becomes prayer. A hearts cry to the only one who has the power to save us. So often in life we wait until circumstances become chaotic, or our health has reached a life or death situation before we act on it. Then we choose to cry out and ask for God’s help when His help was always available to us.

Our Heavenly Father is full of Grace and Mercy. Our healing weather on earth or in heaven was ours to begin with, but sometimes, we think we must earn His grace. Grace is unmerited favor. Ephesians 4:7 Grace was given to each one of us according to the measure of Christ’s gifts… There is nothing we can do to earn it. We receive it because He is God and He loves us. I know in years past, there were many times that I waited until I needed a miracle before I would reach out to God. Before I would pray or read my bible. Although God is merciful and full of grace, I’ve often thought how much farther I could have grown in my relationship with Him had I not chosen to only chose Him as a lifeline when that life line was a constant access to me. The great news is that He will always be our lifeline if we acknowledge Him. A relationship with the Lord is so much more favorable when He is in constant acknowledgement as our present help in time of need Psalm 46.

When you are in daily contact (through His word and in Prayer) you begin to understand who He is for you. You become more confident in your relationship with Him and you lose all that fear of Him leaving you when you make a mistake. You gain so much more knowledge and understanding of His love for you. You learn how to love the unlovable, reach the unreachable and touch the untouchable. I know because I was once all of the above. So yes! He is the greatest lifeline there is in this world, but my prayer is that you prefer to know Him and Love Him at all times, but until you arrive to that place of knowing Him, I urge you to allow Him to be your Lifeline today. I urge you to allow Him to be the breath in your lungs, the blood that flows through your veins. Open your mouth and pray, open your bible and find out who He is and what He wants to be for you, what His desires are for you.  Allow your lifeline to be Christ Jesus and He’ll take the rest from there. Jesus be our Life line and then take us deeper into you!
