Break my heart Lord for what Breaks YoursA Story by "Aleeza"Break my heart
Lord for what breaks yours is a line in a worship song called Hosanna, but it’s
also a hearts cry to God when we desperately seek healing and change in the
lives of others. Time and time again we kneel before God requesting His healing
power, His grace, mercy and favor. We come across people who are suffering and
some even dying, but does our hearts break as our Father’s heart breaks? Hebrews 5:7 During His earthly life, Jesus
offered prayers and appeals with loud cries and tears to the One who was able
to save Him from death, and He was heard because of His reverent submission"
His ministry broke his heart and cost him his life. Does it break our hearts
when we see: People who are unrepentant? People who don't practice God's Word. People
who don't realize time is running out. People who are self-destructing. People
who refuse the cure. Those people break God's heart. As I was studying this
topic I came across a study by John C. Holbert on Jeremiah who was referred to
as the Weeping Prophet. Jeremiah is commonly known as the "weeping
prophet," based on his wish to have a "fountain of tears" with
which he might weep for the slain of his own people. Based off of Jeremiah 9:1 Oh,
that my head were a spring of water and my eyes a fountain of tears! I
would weep day and night for the slain of my people. As I was
reading in Jeremiah the 8th chapter, you can hear his hearts cry for
his people of Jerusalem, asking why do they always turn away, cling to deceit; refuse
to return.. How many times have we cried out to God in reference of the many
people we love that have turned their hearts away from God? Why does it always
take a tragedy to bring us into the presence of God when we should always be
there. Why does it take a movie like the War Room to remind us how to warfare
for the lives of others or ourselves even? I remember after that movie came out,
there were thousands of people (including myself) creating war rooms in their
homes. As grateful as I am for movies like that, for passionate worship songs
that bring such a fire to our spirits, why do we not automatically as men and
women of God have that passion. Why does it take the actions of others to refuel
the passion within us? I know for me personally I had to be corrected by my Father as recent as this morning. As I was in a heart breaking prayer for a loved one I heard the Lord speaking to my spirit saying: Every time you try not to cry and pretend to be hard you are blocking your heart from breaking as My heart breaks... you purposely make yourself blind to the things I see so your heart does not become soft. Now I am going to block you from concealing your emotions. I was like Really God, this is not about me this is about the one I was praying for… but you see, it is just as much about us as it is about the ones we’re praying for. If we are to cry out to God for the healing of others, then we must allow our hearts to be totally exposed to experience the break we are crying out for. We have to let go of that control and completely surrender or we will never hurt for what He hurts for. We will never see with eyes wide open for what He sees. Yes, we will be
fragile and our hearts will be exposed and broken, but God uses people with
broken hearts. Will you let your heart be broken by the things that breaks His? Karen Hurl 01/09/2017 © 2017 "Aleeza" |
