Don't Allow Prayer to Be Your WeaknessA Story by "Aleeza"Over the last several months the Lord has been pressing upon my heart the importance of prayer. Learning that not only do we become closer to Christ by spending time with Him daily, but we offer our plea’s to God for the sake of others. As the Lord was nudging me to pray more frequently I would always have excuses as to why I shouldn’t pray. You see, prayer was always my weakness. In my mind I didn’t speak eloquently enough to pray. I didn’t know these big elaborate words and I have a horrible time spouting off scripture or even remembering the scriptures that I would read. I have always left praying out loud to the other people around me because I would get tongue tied as to how to pray and what words to use. I guess I just expected myself to sound like other people. So I had convinced myself that as long as I stood in agreement with those around me that God did not need to hear from me directly. I convinced myself that my prayers are not anointed. I know for some of you the thought of me being nervous to speak out loud comes as a shock, but I am. I thrive at other gifts but prayer was my weakness. So a few days ago as I was alone with the Lord waiting for a friend to come by, I felt Him nudging my heart to pray aloud with her. Instantly I felt insecure and inwardly I struggled and began to silently speak to God. At that moment I heard the lord speak to me and His words to me were: I am not asking for intelligent words, nor am I asking for religious babble to come from your lips. What I am asking is that you come to Me in an attitude of thanksgiving and a belief that I am with you. I am asking you to speak into the atmosphere and make your request known to Me. At that point leave the rest up to Me and know that I hear you and that I am with you. So as God is encouraging me to step up in my faith and to believe that He is with me, I also encourage you to do the same. Even the boldest of people have a weakness, but where we are weak He is strong. We just have to know that we know that He is with us and that He hears us when we cry out to Him. 1 John 5:14-15 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us "whatever we ask "we know that we have what we asked of Him. Although I believed that praying was a gift for other people. the Lord has clearly brought it to my attention that we are all called to pray. We are all called to seek His face. Not just for our own needs, but for the needs and desires of those around us. You may be the only person to know the specific need of someone around you. Although praying daily is a requirement and we should be doing it, I believe we should make ourselves accountable to others. Not only does that enrich our prayer lives, but the word says when two or more gather in His name that He is there among us. This morning as I was in my time of worship I was listening to a worship song “Let it rain “ and in the lyrics it says: Because we want to see You; Show us Your Glory. And we want to know You, Lord…. What better way to know Him and to see His Glory than to go before Him? To speak to Him daily. So today I encourage you to make your request known before the Lord and believe that He is working on our behalf. Make yourselves understand that there are people out there who depend on the Kingdom of God to go before the Father on their behalf, and know that the Father waits to hear your voice every day. He wants to hear from you and to speak back to you. You are His child and He cares for you. He desires to hear your voice. So today I will make it a point to fold my hands and pray. To pray for each and every one of you who read this, and to pray for myself as well. As I will daily need to lift myself in prayer to become more like my Father. Colossians 4:2 Devote yourselves to prayer, with an alert mind, and a Thankful heart. Karen Hurl © 2018 "Aleeza" |
