Cookie Crumbs

Cookie Crumbs

Believing in yourself.

"

Have you ever sat and enjoyed a small plate of cookies and then discard the crumbs? I myself have cleaned plates off and thrown out the crumbs with the next days trash. Well today I had this humorous conversation with my husband and used the cookie crumbs in a metaphor explaining how they are just as flavorful as the cookie. Well that led me to begin thinking about the importance of each ingredient that it takes to make that cookie and I began to see us all as one single ingredient in the body of Christ that has to come together as one to create a beautiful picture of who God is. In that process I began to see how much we treat one another and even ourselves as cookie crumbs instead of the whole cookie. How many times have you put less effort into yourself because in your mind you don't  match up to the person next to you? That's the cookie crumbs. Maybe you don't feel as adequate when speaking because you heard someone speak more eloquent than you.  Sometimes I do that in my writings when I read another persons writing that is so much more creative then my own. So in reality I have just treated my gift as the crumb of the cookie instead of the dessert itself.  I believe that most of us if not all of us have compared our own gifts and talents to another persons, which in return allowed ourselves to believe that we are not as gifted or important as they are. Although I must say that  those crumbs have just as much flavor as the cookie and you have just as much to offer as the next person.

So here's my brilliant perspective :) It takes hundreds of crumbs to form one cookie and you are one of those crumbs, so am I. It's time you begin to see yourself in the fullness of His light and not the shadow of the crumbs that get tossed away. I know that's not how God wants us to view ourselves. He has created each one of us with many gifts. Some the have the same gifts as others yet used in a different manner. I had a friend years ago whose uncle was a coal miner in West Virginia. He was amazing at his job, but just like it takes many crumbs to form a cookie, it takes many miners to bond together to get the job done and keep one another safe in the process, but when the job is done tons of coal is produced and coal under pressure produces the most beautiful diamonds. So although this is one of my shorter stories, I feel it's very important for you to begin to see the value in what you do and who you are. Begin to view yourself the way God views you and not like the cookie crumbs that get tossed aside. You are a valuable asset in this world. In the eyes of God you are a treasure, you are that beautiful diamond and you matter. So use your gifts along side of others and create something great. Create a Beautiful cookie with lots of crumbs, because from that cookie will fall more crumbs and when put together under pressure will form yet another beautiful cookie ♥
