The Stars

The Stars

A Poem by Alecia Noelle

The Oscars!

What a night!

What a delight!

Did you see all the pretty people?

Prancing around

In their gowns?

The made up clowns,

Preening like birds!

All squawking the same words,

To the reporters flocking around!

Asking the same stupid questions,

Again and again!

But what do we learn?

What can we discern?

From this display?

That they are the Stars!

They are the Stars!

Today!

And every day!

That is why they are all on camera,

The fabulous!

The glamorous!

And we are not,

As we ought,

Because no matter what!

We will never be as fabulous as them!

Oh the Oscars!

What a night!

What a delight!

Ask them,

And the celebs continue to insist!

They do persist!

That just to be nominated is an honor!

Ha!

What a lie!

What dishonor!

Why do they even bother?

When we all know,

They want to win!

Yes!

They must win!

They need to win!

Or forever be a has-been!

The Oscars!

What a night!

What a delight!

That everyone thinks they will win!

And flash that victory grin!

But don't they know,

That in this show,

There can only be one?

Who has the fun!

And no one remembers the rest!

So are you the best?

Or just best-dressed?

Just get attention!

Cause some tension!

Make sure you get a mention!

Because in the end,

That is all that matters!

Great write and you are so right! Enjoyed the ride. I smiled through the entire piece! They are but actors so we do not know when they are sincere................

Ego and money are what drives them.
