Stranger in a LamborghiniA Chapter by AleahZodyDoes this make me a hitchhiker?“Bye Lacy!” My friend Madison cried out as she jumped into her car. “I guess it’s just me and you.” I said as I looked over at my friend Derrik. His light hair was delicately styled and when he looked at me the sun caught it. “Think again,” he pointed to a mini-van that was a couple hundred feet away from us. “Sorry, bro. It’s too bad your car was totaled; otherwise you would’ve been gone before Madison left. Are you sure you don’t want a ride?” he asked. “Yea, I’m sure. My mom said she wanted my opinion on some shirts at American Eagle.” I answered. I was also kind of bummed that my car got wrecked. I mean it’s not like it was my fault some jerk didn’t learn to drive properly. I’m pretty sure it is common sense that you stop at a red light, for God’s sake! The mini-van pulled next to us, “Hi Lacy!” Derrik’s mom greeted. She’s so sweet. Derrik’s brothers were yelling in the back, jumping up and down, rocking the car back and forth. His little sister sat in the back with her My Little Pony collection, quietly murmuring to them. Derrik jumped in and shouted, “Shut it!” the boys immediately shut their traps. “Hi Mrs. Nelson,” I said, putting my elbows on the open window, smiling. “Now honey, you know you can catch a ride with us. Your mother is just a phone call away right? I just don’t like you being here alone.” I laughed. Mrs. Nelson was always worrying about everyone, even if they weren’t one of her many children. “Mrs. Nel --” I started. “Please sweetie, you can cal me Blair.” She cut me off. I paused for a moment. I’ve known both Derrik and Mrs. Nelson since 7th grade, and me, now going to be a senior, was a little scared to call her by her first name for some reason. “…Blair. I’m fine here, my mother shouldn’t be too far away and I can protect myself.” I locked eyes with Blair Nelson, trying to convince her. She looked unsure but finally said, “Alright and you’ll call Derrik if you do need a ride?” I rolled my eyes and nodded. She started to roll up the window, the last thing I heard was her saying to Derrik, “Why can’t you get a girlfriend as nice as her?” I shook my head as the car drove away, leaving me alone. Madison, Derrik and I had come to the fair; we hadn’t seen each other in weeks. To be perfectly frank, I was so glad we met up. I was kind of tired of cleaning the already clean dishes if I was bored. Our city fair is so tiny, though. It only came in the summer, on the hottest two weeks of the summer. There were probably 13 rides and each was as expensive riding it as it probably was to buy it. So we just walked around, talked, ate, and only had enough money for one ride. So basically…best day of summer, so far. Just then my phone rang loudly, blaring out, “Just the way you are,” by great friend, Mr. Mars. All of the people who were, just like me, waiting outside the gates looked at me. A couple of them actually checked their phones. “Hello?” I answered. “Lacy,” my mother said, I knew that tone. “I’ll walk home, mom.” I said. “Ok, I’m sorry it’s just --” she said. “S’ok mom, you don’t have to tell me.” “She sighed in relief, “Thank you,” click. I let out a long sigh and started home. I was about a mile away from the fair when a Lamborghini pulled up next to me. “Hi!” I squinted my eyes, despite the sunlight, and peered into the car. My eyes locked with the stranger. His eyes were a stormy blue and they were moving up and down. I scrunched my eyebrows together. Why would he… I stood up straight and pulled my low-cut tank-top. “Do you need a ride?” he asked. Hmm, let me see, a guy in an expensive car checking me out? Or walk another 6 miles? “Yes!” I opened the door and jumped in. I heard him chuckle softly. “Thanks for --” my voice stopped when I saw who I was in the car with…and what he was wearing! This was not only a guy with a Lamborghini checking me out. This was an extremely attractive guy with a Lamborghini checking me out! I realize this is not the smartest thoughts to be thinking but…wow. He had dark hair that complimented his eyes as well as his tan. And I’m guessing your wanting to know what he was wearing? Swimming shorts nicely showing off his fitness trainer abs. After about five seconds of being in the nicest car I’ve ever been in and will ever be in, I already had a goofy grin on my face. But what surprised me the most was that he did too. “I’m Jude,” he smirked. © 2011 AleahZodyAuthor's Note
