Altair's Mistake

Altair's Mistake

A Story by Albyaino
"

This is a fan fiction of Altair the Master Assassin.

"
He stalks his prey through the middle of the market, hoping that
he'll lead him straight to his Templar master. It's a scorching
45 degree day and Altair is hoping that this meet happens soon, as
his starting to feel the sun's effects on his awareness as sweat starts to
obscure his view under his hood. Altair takes a second to wipe the sweat away
to quickly recover and discover that his target is standing still in the middle
of a now empty market. Where did everyone disappear to? Altair wonders to
himself, noticing that archers are quickly filing onto the roof tops of buildings
surrounding him, Calling out to the nothingness 'Come out you coward! I know
you dwell in the shadows somewhere!' Only to be surprised by the fact that it's
not a Templar agent that steps out but Abbas, Altair's childhood friend who was
ashamed by his fathers actions, 'Not who you were expecting? Who would of
thought that the Great Master Assassin Altair Ibn-La'Ahad wouldn't be able to
figure out what was happening around him until it was too late,' Abbas replied
mockingly to him. 'What have you done Abbas? I see an Assassin but with Templar
support, what have you done?' Altair questioned the man he once called friend, whilst
trying to find a way to escape the trap he had walked into. 'You see Altair
I have found that the Templar's pay a lot more handsomely is I was to deliver them
you dead than it was to stay an Assassin, you with your great knowledge gleaned
from the apple, where is it Altair? Where is the apple now? It could save you,' Altair
cursed himself leaving it back at the bureau, Abbas was right, it could save him now.
Deciding to stay quiet so as not to revel the location of the apple, Abbas continued
'You're not the only one with followers who would die for you at any minute Altair.
Just look at my messenger, I'm sure you noticed the bomb strapped to him?...'
Altair cursed himself again and shifted nervously at this new found knowledge,
'... Oh you didn't? Such a shame' Abbas chided noticing the shift in Altair,
'Well as much as I hate talking to you Altair, if you don't reveal the location
of the apple I must order your death...' remaining silent Altair braced himself
'... No? Okay then, goodbye Altair, you have been a stain on my life for way to long'
and with that the market was filled with innocent people again, unaware of what
was about to happen. Altair rushed through the crowd, pushing and shoving people apart,
hoping to reach the bombardier before he detonated his bomb. 10 meters away
and Altair found himself flying backwards through the air until a building stopped him suddenly,
knocking him unconscious, his Assassin's cloak on fire. In the confusion Altair saw
through his brief bursts of consciousness, there were dozens of injured and dead alike,
but he was moving, how? He glanced up to see a face obscured by by the blood in
his own eyes from his head wound. Next thing Altair remembered was waking up in the
bureau some 500 meters from the trap, looking over him the Rafiq Sabib and the
face of his rescuer, which he now recognised, Allet, the boy he had banished
from the Brotherhood 10 years prior........
