A Tale of Horror...Or Not

A Tale of Horror...Or Not

A Story by Albert Freeman
"

This could be a horror story for someone....right?

"

Melanie was having a happy normal day in Oklahoma. She had lunch with her best friends Nely and Jessica, and completed her work for Mrs. Krabapple. It was all going wonderfully, until she discovered spoons in her locker - she had a terrible fear of them, and wondered who could do such a cruel thing.

'I bet it was Marie,' said Nely. 'She's been jealous of you since she heard that you were going to the World Dice Championships with Albert.' Melanie sighed.

'Did you read the Spock Daily?' said Jessica. 'There was an article about The Tooth Fairy, who shocked everyone when she had a bad hair day and received split ends from hell.

''Really?' said Melanie. 'Can I read the article?'

    Jessica gave it to her.

The Spock Daily has heard rumors that the Tooth Fairy is back after the shock of many years ago when she had a bad hair day and received split ends from hell.. This is not true. The Tooth Fairy is in Fremantle, Australia.

Melanie scanned the article and was startled to discover that she and the Tooth Fairy were alike - They both loved disco.

Melanie walked home feeling very troubled. When she got home, there was a box on her doorstep. She opened it and screamed. It was full of spoons. There was also a letter.

To Melanie. Watch your step. Ha ha ha. Signed, The Tooth Fairy.

Who could it be? Was it really the Tooth Fairy or someone closer to her? Melanie suspected everyone - Marie of course, who always sneered at her. Albert, even though he was the dreamiest boy in Oklahoma. She even suspected Jessica who had a great love for spoons and had been acting strangely recently. The only person she could trust was Nely who had been her friend since they were small children.

The night before the World Dice Championships, Melanie went with Nely to the The library, and they discovered it was empty. Melanie was pleased to have Nely with her, because she was very nervous about the Tooth Fairy, as well as avoiding Albert, Jessica, and Marie. 'Isn't it strange,' said Nely. 'How much we have in common?'

Melanie remembered that they both loved disco.. She became uneasy. ' Nely, don't you have family in Fremantle, Australia?'

Nely laughed manically. She threw some spoons at Melanie, then attacked her with a book, and Melanie was forced to fight back with a magazine. She ran away and was found by Albert and Jessica, who had a perfectly rational explanation for her strange behaviour.

'We came to save you from Nely,' said Jessica.

The next day they discovered that Nely had left to become a Yahoo Chat Moderator. Melanie was sad - Nely had been her friend for years, and becoming a crazed psycho in the space of a few days could happen to anyone. But she placed her trauma firmly behind her and went to the World Dice Championships with Albert, much to the dismay of Marie.
