The Sad Maiden

The Sad Maiden

A Poem by Emanon
"

this is just a poem about a maiden who lost the man she loved...

"

*The Sad Maiden *

The moon hung high in the cobalt sky but an orb of

silver light

A fair pale maiden gazed upon a sad stone in the

cool night

Twas the stone that above her lost love she'd held so dear

Who had set her heart aflutter whenever he'd been near

**********************************************

Forever more was he lost to her 'till she left this

mortal coil

And her love for him would not abate never its fruit

would spoil

******************************************

As the tears did slide down her cheeks, her heart

did reminisce

Of their first dance, sweet words exchanged and love

upon first kiss

"Heaven's above", she spoke aloud her voice

mingling with the wind

"Care not I if I should die. I beg you please return

me to him,"

"Him who I mourn and shall never forget--for ours is an

amaranth love,"

"Please I beg you bring me to my lost one, oh mighty

heavens above!"

*********************************************

The sad maiden sat upon the hallowed ground silently

awaiting reply

But not a word was heard and she raised her hands to

the sky

"Please I beseech you unseen holy one who rules the

heavens high,"

"Please I beg of you, show mercy and my request

do not deny!"

Again the maiden sat unspeaking awaiting reply from above

Again she sat there hopeful she would soon see her lost love

*************************************

But only was there heard a lone owl's call upon the

breeze

And her hope did melt away, her anger surging forth with

ease

"I beg of you!" she shouted her hands clenched in fists of rage

"I beseech you bring me peace, stop the war that doth

wage!"

"Within my breast, inside my heart so haunted  by

sweet memory!"

"I be you! I command thee bring my lost love back

to me!"

*******************************************

Suddenly the wind did cease, not one leaf upon branch of tree did stir

The maiden felt a sudden chill, a fear slowly arose in her

She felt that in the somber cemetary no longer was she

alone

And a sense of dread took hold of her and thrilled her to the

bone

*****************************************

"Hello?" she spoke voice low in the eerie calm of night

Her hands trembled, her pulse raced with sheer fright

******************************************

"You have summoned me," a deep voice spoke, so suddenly her body gave a start

"You have brought me here with the plea that I should ease

your broken heart,"

"And so have I come at your request and so have you been heard,"

"From the outer realms of the mortal world did I hear your every word,

"And your words did move me on this night to your lost love's resting place,"

"To tell you maiden that I cannot arise your lost one but only erase,"

"Erase from your aching breast all memories of his face, times shared, every kiss,"

"I can offer blissful amnesia of your dead lover if you wish,"

******************************************

"But I cannot make the earth to part nor can I steal your breath,"

"I can only offer solace by erasing the sad memories you have left,"

"Every thought of him I can purge and make your heart to heal,"

"Truly you shall no more cry nor for your lost love feel,"

"No longer shall tears be shed for he thou does yearn for so,"

"For no longer shall his memory linger and no pain shall you know,"

****************************************

"So fair maiden does thou wish for me to help thee on this fateful night,"

"To purge your heart of sadness and put thou love to rest--out of mind, out of sight,"

"Does thou wish to be free of thy longing, and no more tears to shed,"

"And no longer to faithfully mourn the lost, the dead,"

******************************************

"You've only to ask and I shall make it so and heal your rotted core,"

"And you shall cry and wish to die, nevermore,"

*******************************************

"So tell me sweet maiden shall I cease your tears at long loast?"

"Shall I wipe away all grim memories of times past?"

"Tell me, give me answer of what thou wishes me to do,"

"Tell me what thou heart wants, I beseech you"

****************************************

The maiden sat, unmoving thinking of the words the sceptre had spoken

She wondered if she should let her heart once more be unbroken

She wondered if she could vanish her sorrows if there went with it her memories

Her memories of his face, his touch, his eyes like turbulent seas

*******************************************

The maiden wept outwardly at the thought of her lost love's face

"Never," she spoke, "Never could I erase,"

"Erase my darling's memories for they are all I may now hold dear,"

"Never could I forget him, never would I trade one tear."

*******************************************

The sceptre nodded slowly and in and instant left her there

Alone and sobbing at her love's grave her soul lay bare

**********************************************

The fair maiden wiped away her tears and peace seeped unto her core

For a revelation came upon her that one day she'd see him once more

***********************************************

She stood with new resolve accepting that her love was gone

And left her beloved's grave with the coming of the dawn.
