The Rose

The Rose

A Poem by Brent
"

A quick read, free verse.

"

Armed with his digital camera,

An impatient youth walked the woods.

And in those woods he captured many beautiful things--

Birds, bugs, trees and flowers--but being impatient,

He did not linger to check each photo’s quality.

Along his journey, he came across the most wonderful little rose

Who, noticing the boy, spread its petals wide

And waited for its grand debut.

Hurriedly, the boy snapped a picture and moved on.

The rose was overjoyed, knowing that its beauty

Would ever be preserved. Somewhere, someone would

Enjoy its loveliness, appreciate that it had existed.

From that moment on, the rose bloomed strong and proud,

Growing ever brighter for the remainder of its life

Until--for it was immortalized in film--

Happily dying, hidden from view.

But when the boy returned home and finally viewed the results,

He found that the rose’s picture had blurred

And swiftly deleted it.
