EternalA Poem by BrentA bit dark... may yet be editing this one. Not sure where such words came from, really. I am unsure on the title, as well.Eternal I pray not for us to be together, for that is too easily arranged. No, I pray that you should want me, too and then, in the morning, offer me your budding lips so I do not have to take them. In the night, feed me your tongue slowly, wetly, passionately, so as to satiate the visions I see in dreams. And then, when I awake, you should awaken also and lend yourself to me without mistrust. I am wooed by your power but I am also wooed by my power to take it from you. Death is too sweet a thing, my beguiler; my arrested mistress, you are mine as much as your own. Treat me as an incubus, if you are not my equal: fear me enough to let me have you. Enough tears cannot be wept for freedom; freedom is earned--freedom is a reward! Tears are only a further attraction. Perhaps this is why you no longer oblige me with them. You work to crucify me still! I almost miss your shouts as much as I enjoy your silence.
It does not have to be so. I yearn for nothing more than to have you humbly, but you will not allow me this fantasy, and therefore I will not allow you your fantasies. Just love me. Love me and we can be true, love me and we can be eternal. Your defiance is the only sin. I do not ask so much of you. If we could have each other, I could be so happy-- if you could only yearn for me as I, you. You were... so endearing in your innocence. Yes, the death of your innocence is truest. Blessed be our love. © 2012 Brent |
