The Beat Of The Heart Of An EngineA Poem by Alan S JeevesNot a commercial poem, just a little light fun. A car engine personified ? Don't we just love our motor cars ?I awaken from my slumber
When someone turns the key I don't recall the number Of miles you've shared with me. I need a little turning Before my day may start But soon my breath is burning Inside my beating heart. I hum a genteel melo-dee As round, around I spin Eager to be free, you see, And feeling fine within. But most of all I love the time When set in cruising mode This is when I'm in my prime ~ Out on the open road. So, when I'm safe back home and stood At rest beside the house I gently purr beneath the hood As quiet as a mouse. I slip inside the garage door To doze my dreary head; You slowly turn the key, once more, And put me back to bed. © 2022 Alan S JeevesReviews
