Chapter 4

Chapter 4

A Chapter by alan khan

The gates to the city on the west side, Gimora Gates, reveals itself to the young man long before he reaches its doors. The smells of a city now tainting the air he breathes, and its scent only becomes stronger as he ventures forward. Knowing that he will soon be near, giving the young man energy, the business with the wolves now wiped clean from his mind. Just being able to looki up at the walls said to be miles high, was all he was thinking of at this point.

"Gimora Gates," the young man hears disgust in his own voice. "...I've arrived." He shakes his head, looking at a horrid scene. Dozens of people, clothed in the filthiest of rags, crouch in dust filled shadows, coughing and shaking from hunger. There ragged skin hugging close to there bones, wrapping around there ribs, as even breaths they take seem to be gifts. Black smoke trails from far off and burns tears in there eyes, eyes cold and gray, only look down. A pair of little boys roll around in the dirt, fighting, for a half loaf of bred. The blood trickling down the side of one of there faces. " Does god not leave the City.."

As the young man walks forward toward the hard wooden doors, they are swung open. From within the city, a giant man in chains surrounded by a squad of Crimson City Soldiers walk out , a puny man, no doubt the commander, leads the way. The young man lowers his head, turns and walks off to the side, doing his best to avoid being seen.

The Commander turns and raises his hands, as the team all stop in synchronized order, and bring the giant to his knees. He orders them to stand in a line behind him as he brings his face to the giant's eye level. "You...you insolent oaf, official business, instructed to me by the KING himself, is not your concern. Punishment will be slow, and you failure to live by order will be made example of." He straightens himself as he gives the order for his men to beat him. With their wooden staffs, they begin to savagely beat the giant.

The young man walks further away, with haste, trying to avoid the noise. Though they only seem to grow louder. The giant screams out finally, real pain becoming apparent to him for the first time in his life. The scream of this man, so full of roar shakes the young down to his feet. The strange pain in his chest that has haunted him for all of his life burns now, and it spreads throughout his body. His arms shake with rage, and he cannot remove himself from the situation any longer.

He turns quickly and rushes over, "Please sir, i beg you, whatever this man has done, doesn't warrant such a beating i'm sure." The commander looks up at him, astonished, unable to react right away. But quickly snaps his thin fingers. Thus turning the soldiers on him. The young man quickly pulls his sword from his back and lunges toward the closest one, bringing his knee to connect with the soldiers jaw. He quickly drops to the ground, rolling passed three men. He leaps up and brings his elbow down on the top of the commanders skull, knocking his teeth together. He swings his sword to slice a soldier's staff in two, kicking him away. Aware of that feeling now, that feeling of not wanting to stop. Enjoying every second of his fight, enjoying how natural all of it comes.  One second, fearful of his might, the next releasing it, in a beautiful tragic art. It gave him the strength to bring half of the squad down. Though suddenly, he feels a sharp sting on the back of his skull. Sound and taste escape him, as he falls to his knees, the ground's dust quickly going in and out of focus. He falls to the ground as the world turns upside down, a gentle ringing in his ears, carrying him to blackness..
