A Story by alan khan

normally i respect all life...

coincidentally on this day i had taken a vow of peace, a vow that would soon be broken. the day began unlike any other, quietly. the sun came through my morning window and warmed my bones out of dreaming. dreaming.

from then on, it was the usual hubaloo. i tore into my clothes, the jeans and leather coat, and ventured through the sheets. a worthless collector for BOSS. BOSS. had given me an awfully unusual assignment this particular day.

"bring me the statue of the little boy playing with his dog at JOE'S house...tonight."

"sure thing BOSS."

I knocked on the typically s****y apartment door of JOE, and waited the typically couple of seconds, for him to rip it open, the idea of a random visitor, actually taking an interest in him, exciting him. I love the look on his face, when my mug greets his optimism.

i grab the statue, without words, or explanation...on a count of i had none.

But i wasn't really prepared for what was next. JOE just went nuts. LIke f*****g apeshit. I hadn't realized that wiry frame could get so much power behind it. none the less. i dropped him in seconds. but dropped the statue in the process. Broken his nose, and the statue as well.

i went home to take a shower, and when i closed the curtain, a little spider, maybe a baby one, clung on to the depressingly cheap plastic shower curtain. I watched him for a while...i hate spiders...and he dropped down to the shower floor. I cupped some running water in my hand, and watched him drown. watched his leg kick around, searching for something to hang on to. till his legs stopped, till his legs curled up to his body, and watched as its body was washed away by the water down my shower drain.

i dont know what i'll tell BOSS about this f*****g statue. least i don't have to shower with the spider in the tub. yuck.
