birth.

birth.

A Poem by alan khan

and here i stand on the edge of a cliff
and hope and pray to the sea
"allow this feeling of happiness
to cleanse my soul and set me free"

i jump the edge and hold my breath
and dive into the heat
sea creatures surround my head
and they all speak to me

"you stupid fool you jumped away
from that which you love
the way to live is found in you
not found below or above."

i swam back to shore and cried
soaking in my tears
a voice not to far away
told me of my fears

"you cannot stand the sunlight
for you the warmth is too much
that's why you fear the happiness
you say you want but can't touch."

i stripped my self of all my skin
and hugged the air and the earth
i scream and yell to the world
"this is the day of my birth!"

I really liked this. Nice tone, full of meaning without coming off as pretentious.
