Step Into LiquidA Poem by Al NoturalI stand on the edge of euphoria The weight of the world makes the sand beneath me engulf my toes The chilled water mist kisses my cheeks and I am home again I raise my head to a slight tilt And rest my neck on the salty air I take my first step into liquid The sensation brings a feeling over me A feeling of the perfect sound the sound of the ocean cheer I start to paddle out and in that moment I am who I am I find myself in the water I look up to gaze at the horizon in movement I feel my foundation swell and recede How I missed this The time has come I turn around for I have seen the potential The potential for bliss I feel the pull and hear the applause grow I start my race My arms do their work and provide me with the speed needed I am in I stand if only for a moment on top of the world. I dip and swerve on this my transit to happiness I crash and feel the roll over of my liquid mistress I am weightless the world is gone and all that's left is me I ascend and walk to shore The sun is setting and I am tired What did I do before I stepped into liquid? © 2008 Al Notural |
