End of Us

End of Us

A Poem by Anima Akuffo
"

Its about the aftermath of separation and loss.

"
This Emptiness
Echoes in my ears
This Silence
Louder than my fears
This Loneliness
Is crowding my space
These tears
Are begging for a race
These are the things you left behind
When we reached the junction called "end of us"

Daydreams
Are now my universe
Memories
Of good times in reverse
Replays
Of what went so wrong
Reruns
Of what brought this all on
This is what happens when lost
at the junction called "end of us"

Your scent
Haunts my senses
Our song
Charges my defences
Favourite places
Leaves me in a state
I never knew
You were my world
Until we both got to a junction called "end of us".

Listless
I watch the world spin by
Witless
I count the reasons why
Spaced out
Am lost between reality and time
No doubt
Am not the same as I am
This is what you left when we parted at the junction called "end of us"

Goodbye
My friend, my lover
Don't cry
It's not forever
Thank you
For being part of my life
So sorry
We were never good enough.

i really relate to this one, Anima...

my first divorce...as we were splitting up there were many times we would just sit and talk and listen to music and discuss how we were going to miss the friendship...knowing the other didn't work out...we were saddest about the friends leaving each other.

your writing has such a depth of touch to it...

So sweet isn't it. it's my favourite too Sam. Thank you.
Deep understanding of a broken love. Beautifully penned. I felt the last line of the verses might need a bit more thought, yet over all it was jam packed with longing, sorrow, regret, hope and forgiveness. Blessings to you and well done :
