All Alone, Surrounded

All Alone, Surrounded

A Poem by Akshay

Ghost town, no sound
On my own, stranded
Alcohol in holy grail
All alone, surrounded.

Junkie love, heartless
Destitute, lack concept
Tragedy accomplished
All alone, yet surrounded.

Solicited gamble
Hopes left to dangle
Apparitions keep haunting
All alone, always surrounded.

Always tried, never failed
Always failed, never lied
Shake hands with the never sighted
You're alone, yet surrounded.

Liked the piece overall...'Junkie love' in particular.

But I found this intriguing more as a writing exercise. I think I saw an effort at a particular cadence via the number of syllables per line. (I do this kind of thing for myself just for the fun of it.) Is that correct or am I imagining that? ...bob
