Love

Love

A Poem by A.K. Rohner
"

Powerful and strong, just like a song

"
In the time it took
to reach your heart,
it turns out you had mine
right from the start.

You broke my walls,
you busted my thoughts,
tore apart my words,
my tongue was caught.

Apologies,
like melodies,
carry tunes and please the ears.
Yet with those lyrics
and fake leather tunics,
you lift me up,
with your verbal anesthetic.

Love,
a word so forgotten,
like a dead dove,
left in its grave of feathers.
Yet love holds strong,
and last so long,
perhaps this “love”
was once a song.
