Fragile Seeds

Fragile Seeds

A Poem by Charles A Ofori
"

Our lives are feeble, Loosing a very loved person results in profound pain and unstable emotions. You can immediately become disinterested in life and everything around you. Death is pain.

"
It was a cool breeze we loved. No, it was stifling heat
Blooming fields in transient breadth to desolate land

Your deeds  were many but not so were your days on earth
Suddenly gone like a sweet taste that only lingers in memory

Looking in the distance, all are but a memory.
As you live in my mind, so I hope you live with us.
You are but shadows and echoes

The seeds will bud. They will bud to keep the line.

We are all fragile seeds, are we not? Like flowers, as soon as we are born, we begin to die. It's a long process, longer for some than others. The ones left behind pay homage through memory, but one day our seed will be planted in the soil as well. Hopefully, we all bloom again.

Sparely put and brief, this one captures the agony of grief. Someone loved was lost before their time, but the seeds will bud to keep the line. Even in grief there is hope.

You have deeply baptized me in your words of comfort. Thank you John.
Merging nature with grief can be a healing in itself, as we watch the winter turn to spring. Our loved ones live within us, not apart. And it is only when we forget them, are they truly gone.
