I STILL CAREA Poem by AkinloluMy first poem of the year. Some broken off connections and lost relationships come to mind. Sometimes it's hard to let go that which we held dear for so long. But then you are forced to do it
I treated you like high grade diamond.
But you shattered! It happened you were merely transparent porcelain. I took you for refreshing orange. It turned out you were just great tasting lemon. I love vitamin c. So I won't to label you a villain. We thought you were from Honolulu. It was such a nice thing knowing you, brother. But then it leaked that you were a seeker from Kwazulu. Despite this, we welcomed you into our midst like a long lost brother. Since then we've sailed over too many rivers and ponds. Journeyed through too many miles and rough terrains Where monsters abound. And we fought back to back in battles against villains. We stole the Scythe of the grim Reaper and put an end to his tyranny. We pulled a heist and made off with the web of Ananse, the great trickster. Interested buyers should note that we've put it up for sale at Tiffany's. Together, we were a cosmic force. So formidable we successfully stole Hades helm and shaved off Medusa's hair. But now the lemonade has soured and the river concluded its course. Fare thee well. You've spent a whole lifetime changing garments like the chameleon. But in my heart of hearts, for thee I still care. Image Credit: Pixabay © 2024 AkinloluReviews
