MEDUSA

MEDUSA

A Poem by Akinlolu

Grapple with Dracula; lick your wounds like the hound
Engage the Armada, and your courage will be found.
Time's fabric wrinkles like silk.
Eternity drips like curdled milk.

And she rebounds beyond
the gates of Andromeda
where goods are stamped by Pandora.
She's a child of Triton,
bloated with pride;
majestic like a gryphon,
treacherous like the tide.

She leaps out
on infinity’s shore.
and her opponents shout.
About this they're sure;
the culture she brings
is from a nebulla’s ring.

She came as a visitor,
now she's upstaging the inquisitors.
Trafalgar rocks with her fawning groupies
and everyone lines up like eager puppies.
This esoteric lady impacts like cataract;
we’re signing a contract to monopolize first contact

Don't be fooled by appearance that seems feeble.
This seeming superstar lacks credible ensemble.
She's like a Cinderella,
but meaner than a gorilla.
She’s a supernova, cooking,
hissing in hell’s kitchen.
She's the most recalcitrant Titan
sired by Triton.

She's an aberration of nature;
pray for her departure.
She's full of fury, bloated with pride.
She's looks like a fairy but a wrong candidate for a bride.
Ego is her religion,
Chaos is her companion.
Pay attention to the symptoms.
Stop chasing the phantoms.

She weaves galaxies
like trinkets on her hair.
Can't they see her vibrating with hellish melodies?
I watch as she drives her Jag to Times square
Can you believe they let her infect the world from magma to the core?
She's here as a diva and all the bigwigs are head over heels.
They’re wooing Pandora and they’ll pay with ordeals.

Dracula is set for a comeback
with boots ready to be licked.
All roads lead to Trafalgar with eager fans shooting the flick.
How come we got to this junction
and no one is asking the right question?

Doom calls himself Sebastian
but he's no Christian.
He's a Sphinx on a dome
and African scientists are after his genome.
This dude isn't my friend,
and like his sister he's a fiend.
They say he’s a Leo on the prowl
and Medusa is a Virgo that howls

Intriguing imagery. I especially like these turns of phrase:

Time's fabric wrinkles like silk.
Eternity drips like curdled milk.

Thanks for your kind review.
Medusa is my favorite mythological character with her snake hair. To me she spells intrigue. She is so charismatic and has countless facets to her. An absolute dangerous Diva. Not someone to be courted lightly. The Dracula Lady is evil incarnate divine! I loved the imagery in this poem. Such an animated and entertaining rendition from you!

Truly, Medusa isnt a lady to be taken lightly. Thanks for the review my friend. Appreciate it.
So Dracula is set for a comeback...I am getting out my garlic and wooden stakes.
"Ego is her religion" says so much...what often looks so enticing, underneath, is the devil's work.
She needs a makeover of soul.
