MAN'S HOPE AND HIS FEARSA Poem by Akinlolu
Look beyond the frown and
see the man. He's but a noun who lives in a super clan. He's an amalgam of blood, sweat, grit and tears: a composite of skin, bones hopes and fears. He's nothing but dust; yet he dreams of a place called tomorrow, He loathes the rust and shies from hollows and shadows He's a scaffolding of calcium, covered with a tent of skin Seeks pleasure like opium in a quest to conquer his djinn. He rides in supersonic planes but yearns for transport in a chariot powered by fire. He knows it's an ambition that's vain for the transport of angels is beyond what Elon Musk can afford to build or hire. © 2023 Akinlolu |
