HYPOCRATEA Poem by AkinloluPlayacting is not new. But some people's drama have sent multitudes into a living hell.
You told us you had attained nirvana
and we believed in you. Your progress wasn't even as far as Havana. We know your claims are "not true". You promised a potion that’d give us wings like a drake; but you left unsaid the fact that he was a snake. You excited us with pictures of a world that's alternate but never said our joy it would terminate. You wooed us with songs denouncing the misanthrope. It was a subterfuge; you’re just a xenophobe dressed in the garb of an apostle. I can't believe you made us fawners with your epistles. Now you've turned us into foes labelled by your sycophants as low? You accused us of being diseased by apostasy and your acolytes say we suffer from apoplexy; but who made you a judge over us? And what gave them the right to insult us? You preach a lot about coming Utopia but haven't taken us as far as Ethiopia. Yea! we rated you godlike; invincible like Hercules. Oh we've turned clock-like! We know you've got a weakness like Achilles. © 2023 AkinloluAuthor's Note
