Her Beautiful NeckA Poem by Akili AminaInterpretation from workshop exercise of Frida Kahlo's "What I Saw In the Water" painting
It is the masked man that holds the cord around her beautiful neck
He is the master of her fate and by his sexual passion she is captured
Gingerly raised in a gentle wind while he whispers of their bond unfractured
Landing only after they each blissfully have reached ecstasy’s aftermath
As the master of her fate she is dependant on his sexual passion’s fixation
As she is entangled by soft touches and drinks from his lips she is hooked
It is ecstasy’s aftermath upon which they have reached their landing
Bathed in pillow talk by lovers in secret gardens listening to babbling brooks
Entangled in deed as she touches his lips it is her body he drinks in
They are a recreation of Adam and Eve before it was to the earth they brought sin
While listening to babbling brooks the background music of their lover’s garden
How can his love be the object of her torment simultaneously her heart is gladdened?
If he be Adam then it is her duty to bring him the fruit of her glorious rapture
She will lead her one woman crusade to somersault from slave as she will be master
In his eyes she can sense the weakness as the sentry to his heart he loosens
With mask in his hand the man no longer holds the cord around her beautiful neck © 2008 Akili Amina |
