Sinking

Sinking

A Poem by Akib
"

... a young girl's battle with chronic depression.

"
In the corner of the class,
Sat a girl quiet...
Pale white face
Emotionless eyes

She stares through the window
Her heart crying out,
There's people all around her,
But no one hears her shout

She was once a lively soul
Before all hell broke loose
She had dreams and ambitions
But all her thoughts are now blues

She wears a mask everyday
Her feelings she conceal
She's been hurt so many times
She forgot what it feels like to feel.

Alone at night,
She breaks free from her shell.
Holds the blade to her wrist,
And unleashes the devil from hell.

The latch on the door
Muffles her screams
And misery surrounds her,
And the pain, it cuts so deep.

She wants somebody to listen,
Someone to understand.
But when she opens up,
Nobody lends a hand.

So she locks herself alone,
To open up once more.
This time it's no longer in words,
But it results in terrible sores.

These sores cry their 'tears' at night.
Tears so deathly red.
As they cry, she feels a release
From the terrible pain in her head.

See this girl, she had someone,
Who promised to lighten her troubles,
But when she was slowly sinking...
... he just never saw her struggle.
