Roaches

Just something simple and humorous. Imagine being God and watching humans scream and run from bugs. It must be hilarious.

One day in prayer
While talking to God,
I said that I loved
His gorgeous creation.
Well, that is,
Except for the roaches.
Oh, how I do loathe them!
I know that it’s silly -
Me being big
Being so scared
Of something so small.
But as they say,
All things have a purpose.
And with that said,
I’m fully convinced
That roaches were made
Solely, for His entertainment.

How funny! And yes, I agree with the sentiment that not all work has to be deep. I find myself getting caught in that trap and it's hard to get out of. You end up looking morose and boring after a time. On a different note, I was reading this and wanted to compliment you on your general tempo of the piece. Line to line, your words glided wonderfully to a thoughtful, yet humorous end. Good stuff! CD

The last line
" That roaches were made
Solely, for His entertainment." Is so funny! Everything has a purpose in life, roaches were made for the entertainment of the lord. I'm not a fan of bugs, but I don't think I'd be afraid if I saw one. I remember seeing a spider in a toilet, I closed the cover and flushed it down. This made a fun and lighthearted read!

It’s great that you are able to write something lighter amongst the deeper stuff. In fact, I think a writer’s greatest gift is the ability to mix light and shade in their work or move from one to the other. This piece is great fun.

Thank you, Les. I don’t think that all poetry has to be deep either. While at work the other day, I saw a roach struggling on its back. I thought how funny would it be for me to write a poem about my fear of roaches, something different;)
