ON MY WEDDING DAY

ON MY WEDDING DAY

A Story by Ajenifuja Damilola
"

Love,betrayal,friendship and trust.

"
I and bimpe had been dating for over four years. Then I finally decided to propose to her. Yeah! I finally proposed after much pressure from my family and friends. Later that same evening(My best friend "deji") called to challenge me about not telling him about my sudden proposal to my girlfriend and stuffs.
{I haven't even told anyone, that i proposed}I thought! Though I had plans of telling my family and close friends the next day.
Our families soon got to meet each other, then the proper introduction followed and the wedding date was picked between the two families. I called to inform my best friend "deji" to BEST me on my wedding day...we laughed and joked loudly during our chat (so u don finally decide to be serious with bimpe abi?).
When I started dating bimpe four years ago,I had promised/made a vow not to "touch bimpe" until our wedding night. And I sticked with it.
She was the all-saint type of woman, always protecting herself from men, covering her nakedness(I never for once saw her panties or a strip of her bra)......
Few months to my wedding ceremony,I was about leaving the office when a stranger approached me.
She was of average height, beautiful, smell's nice,,fair with long hair and speaks fluent english.

(She told me some things(secrets) but I didn't want to believe them)...... Infact,I choose not to believe any of her words.
Two weeks to our marriage, bimpe came over to my place. She was in the kitchen preparing dinner when I woke up from a long nap (I overheard her conversation on the phone......) because i had initially tiptoed to the kitchen to prank her but her conversation on the phone reminded of my conversation with the stranger and i believed the words of the stranger immediately without an iota of doubt.
After she left that weekend,I decided to call the stranger. The information and pictures she showed me were heartbreaking!
No! not the both of them...I screamed looking at the pictures in my hand...
****%%%****%%%*****
I soon swept my discovery under the carpet and went on with my wedding preparation to have a "Happily Ever After Marital Life"....
Finally our wedding day was here.....the pastor was about to officially join us together with the power bestowed on him, when I asked him to give me some few minutes.
I took the mic and gave a short appreciation speech. "Bimpe" I'm happy I met you,how much can I say to express my love for you.(I said) while I watch her blush.
My speech was getting a bit longer and I could sense the nervousness in her eye and body language.
I have a little gift for you all,but I don't want you to open it till I ask you to...(Some few minutes after the service boys had shared the gift to every single soul in the premises. Even I had a copy).....then....I asked them to open it gently. Deji (my padi/my faithful best man)was behind me smiling all the while until he opened his own share of the gift. Then he froze and his jaw dropped.

Shock! Surprise!! and Sorrow was seen on the face of most people. Bimpe and deji wished the ground would just open up and swallow them as they flipped through the pictures in their hands.
I knew everyone had a million question to ask because the gift which was packaged in an envelope contain the nude pictures of Bimpe and deji on different occasion getting intimate.
You won't even let me see your panties{I said looking her in the eye} Always thought you were virgin mary (I added)
And as for you deji,I thought you were happily married and satisfied with your wife and two kids (I asked looking at my best friend)

Bimpe's parent were embarrassed, her father had to run out of the church because he could bare the shame no more.
Thank God I didn't fall blindly into your everlasting pit of hell.
I can explain {bimpe tried to blurt out}
I wouldn't even listen to any of their trash as I bade them good luck and walked out of the church.
I wish you a great life ahead of you(I said) before walking out of the church premises still (unmarried/single).

#look before you leap!
#not all that glitters is gold_some of dem na panda!

I hope this story is fiction. If it is, you have a very wild imagination. If it is not, I'm sorry for the way things turned out on your wedding day. I think many people have such hidden lives, so you've told a story that gives great satisfaction to the many people who've been hurt by such deceptions. Don't we wish we had the patience & ability to deceive in response to deception, in such a satisfying way! Your storytelling is good, in that the story is paced well & the reader is eager to keep reading & find out what happens. Of course, there are some strange punctuation marks thru-out, but maybe your native language is somehow involved with this. Nice little vignette of revenge.
