Angels Of Silver: A short story

Angels Of Silver: A short story

A Story by Aislinn Dujour
"

A wish, whispered into silver. Who knew life could be so simple?

"
Roads. Pathways. Sidewalks. Everything is desolate and empty here.

I watched blankly as the silver wheels of the luxury tour bus continued to turn.

Larson was driving, and he planned to pick up my friend, Breanne, as well as her other friends who wanted to come along.

We don't know where we're going, we simply want to do something new for a change.

Once everyone arrived, Larson called off everyone's names.

"Avalon. Breanne. Rin. Ezio. Is that all?"

Rin nodded in confirmation, then continued a debate with Breanne regarding important life values.

"But love is the essence of society and life as we all know it! Without love, there would be no reproduction of the human species!"

Breanne was pleased to hear Rin's argument, and I knew she liked him. Her eyes danced at the mere sight of him.

"Logic is more important! Without logic, we'd make stupid decisions in love!"

Damn, that's a legitimate point...

Rin smiled, knowing there was no shame in losing the love/logic debate to her.

I'm not really sure what side I would take myself, in all honesty.

Ezio sat closer to me, his pale skin standing out against the dark bronze color of his hair.

Within a short moment's time, Rin leaned over and kissed Breanne. The reasoning wasn't there, and it confused me.

"Rin... I..."

She barely spoke, staring at him with a face like a rose. Her nerves had got the best of her.

Rin stood, holding her hand in his. "I love you, Brii,"

She blushed even more, her heart swelling with joy. She finally got her happy ending, it seems.

I brushed my midnight blue hair from my pale face, watching as they sat together. They were both extremely happy, more than anyone I've ever known.

They say love is a gift. But truly, that so-called gift only works with certain people in certain situations.

I'm definitely not one of those people, it seems. But I'm used to it, so it doesn't affect me as much.

I fell asleep on one of the couches (the bus feels more like a hotel on wheels) and slept fairly well throughout the night.

When I woke up, Ezio stood over me, his grin lighting up the sky around.

"Hello, my sweet Avalon. You're coming with me,"

His whisper was intimate and quiet. He suddenly pulled me to him, and went downstairs to the bottom level. No one else was down there, and most of the crew were sleeping.

He placed me on the bed, and shut the door. "I want you in my bed, my lovely darling...."

He whispered in my ear, then had a silver cup in his hand. He whispered into it, then it disappeared.

The computer screen read the words he had whispered: I want to become extremely intimate with Avalon, with none of the crew to disturb us.

The themes of unreturned love, desire, and the road trip aspect are very interesting in this. All of the characters are constantly changing, just as their surroundings are with being on a tour bus.

I like this.
