To You, For Today

To You, For Today

A Poem by Airin
"

A bit of a love poem.

"

I expect a new outcome

So I must be insane

For too many months

It's been strictly the same

I fight to hold on

And I fight to let go

And I thought I had nothing

Substantial to show (you)

I am still here

And I still have that thought

That maybe someday

Perhaps you and I ought

To step up to the plate

Swing again at the ball

You know, I did always like

How you thought I was tall

Cause I'm just average height

But you sure talked me up

Now I sit and obsess

Over thrown away love

When I should be out catching

The stars or the moon

To bring them on down

Not a moment too soon

For I know you get tired

When the day turns to night

And I'm not quite finished

Describing your eyes

So I open my palm

Let the moon do his thing

I don't know anyone

Whose got eyes that can sing

But your melody's sweet

And the air is just right

And if you wanted to

We could never think twice

About looking back

Except for to say

That I'm glad I caught up

To you for today
