LOOKING FOR LOVE IN ALL OF THE WRONG PLACESA Poem by Aileen
I’ve been looking for love in all of the wrong places From thinking about it, my heart races My throat is so tight; it’s tied like shoelaces My eyes, cried out, from trying new faces All over the world, I’ve been looking for love for my life to begin Because being in love is not a sin Whose heart will I win without them tossing mine in a bin? So many times I’ve been mistaken My hearts so burnt, it’s toasted like bacon All over it, is written, "spot vacant" For the right one, I’m trying to be patient All my life, waiting for affection I just need love, not perfection For all the past abuse, there’s no exception My children exist because of gods’ creation For them being fatherless, there’s no explanation The loneliness we feel, It’s no exaggeration © 2008 AileenFeatured Review
