Cinderella... I Think Not- (For My Christopher)A Poem by Aifey JaydThe way I feel...Cinderella, Cinderella A beautiful girl you are. Off to the ball in one orange pumpkin, Probably quicker to take a car. We read your story Night by night And yes we wished With all our might To meet the Prince Of our dreams, Just like you did And it seems, Our wish won’t ever Quite come true Because how can we be Just like you? We’ve no fairy godmother To tap her wand and make us pretty While in our sad little house Alone we’re sitting. But Mrs. Cinderella That’s okay. I’ve found my prince Another way. He’s better than yours For he is real And still inside, The magic I feel Is brought by him Not some kindly old lady And no clock was there Lurking, waiting To steal me away As midnight tolled In fact, if I might Be so bold… I no longer dream of your story Your magic pumpkin ride For I have a prince That is all mine, And Cinderella, dear, My friendly little girl. Our love is more precious Than all the magic in your world. © 2012 Aifey JaydAuthor's Note
