Blue

Blue

A Poem by Ma. Aileen Canizares Salibay

Dawdling around a place
Where everything's blue
And a deafening silence is all you hear
Feels like stabbing my heart with a dagger

A mademoiselle's cheerful yesterday
Full of sidesplitting stories and adventures
Linger in me impishly
As the air of nonchalance embraces me.

I plunk down myself on the floor
And stare blankly at a corner
As I try to recall
Faces that could light a dark tunnel.

Moments are dull
And I feel cold
It feels like something drags my soul
Down to Hades's world.

Fear reigns in me
As the fuzzy lanes unfold before me
And the million things I have to juggle
But part of me says whining is a poor choice

So I better keep going
Because the path I take is surely challenging
And only me holds the key
That can unravel this path's mystery.
